BEYOND HAND TO HAND

Learn the ancient art of Kung-Fu weaponry at Lau Gar Kung-Fu Nottingham! Many styles of Chinese martial arts incorporate weapons, but not all schools offer training in them. At Lau Gar Kung-Fu Nottingham, our advanced students have the opportunity to learn and master the art of Kung-Fu weaponry.

A VARIETY OF WEAPONS

Kung-Fu utilises a variety of different weapons, which can be grouped into eighteen main categories: saber, spear, sword, halberd, axe, battle axe, hook, fork, whip, mace, hammer, talon, trident-halberd, cudgel, long-handled spear, short cudgel, stick, and meteor hammer. Each of these categories includes various variations, making Kung-Fu weaponry a diverse and rich discipline to study.

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

In Kung-Fu training, students are taught to defend themselves against weapon attacks using techniques that involve understanding the range, timing, and distance of the attack. These elements are important because they can help the defender to anticipate the attack, gauge the appropriate response, and maintain a safe distance from the attacker. By learning to control these variables, Kung-Fu students can more effectively and safely defend themselves in real-life self-defense situations, whether they occur on the street or at home. By learning the proper techniques and strategies for defending against weapon attacks, Kung-Fu students can better protect themselves and others in potentially violent situations.

ADVANCED TECHNIQUES

Advanced Kung-Fu weapons refer to the more complex and specialized weapons used in the Chinese martial art of Kung-Fu. These weapons often require a high level of skill and training to use effectively and can include weapons such as the double-edged sword, the nine-section whip, and the staff. Advanced Kung-Fu weapons are typically used by experienced practitioners who have mastered the basics of weapon handling and are ready to take their skills to the next level. Training with advanced Kung-Fu weapons can help practitioners to improve their coordination, balance, and precision, as well as increase their physical strength and endurance. It can also be a fun and rewarding way to challenge oneself and continue learning and growing within the art of Kung-Fu.
